“I stepped on the court with a clear mindset, but the wind made everything very complicated,” said Musetti. “I got nervous, rushed, and my opponent did his part well. But then I changed tactics, using my serve better to open up the court. It allowed me to start controlling with my forehand, I gained confidence, and the match turned around. I am very happy with my reaction, also thanks to the support of the crowd.”
In his first semi-final of the season, the 22-year-old Italian will take on Daniel Elahi Galan of Colombia, who received a walkover from sixth-seeded Hungarian Marton Fucsovics.
In the top half of the draw, Mariano Navone also came back from a set down to outlast US-American Emilio Nava 4-6, 6-1, 7-6(4). The No. 3 seed from Argentina won 53 per cent of the total points to succeed in two hours and 48 minutes. Up next for Navone will be Italian Luciano Darderi.
