The 31st edition of Open Castilla y Leon Villa El Espinar is less than 60 days away in order to kick-off on Saturday, July 23, 2016.

The Segovia tournament, which is taking place one week ealier than usual due to the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, is the oldest ATP Challenger event in Western Europe held on hard courts.

The Open Castilla y Leon Villa El Espinar 2016 will feature a total prize money of $75,000 plus hospitality. With the increase in prize money this year, it is situated just behind the top 20 Challenger tournaments in the world. The champion will receive 100 ATP ranking points, the runner-up 60 points.

Evgeny Donskoy is the defending champion, beating Marco Chiudinelli in last year’s final in straight sets. He has joined a list of prominent winners at El Espinar. Sergi Bruguera (2000), Rafael Nadal (2003), Juan Martin Del Potro (2006), Fernando Verdasco (2007) and Pablo Carreno-Busta (2013) are among the past champions.

It will be also held the second edition of the women’s ITF Pro Circuit tournament with a total prize money of $10,000. The winner will receive 12 WTA ranking points.
