The ATP Challenger Tour is back in the United States kicking off the hard-court swing with the fifth edition of the UAMS Health Little Rock Open hosted by the Rebsamen Tennis Center in Little Rock, the capital city of Arkansas.

Alexis Galarneau, top seed of the $82,000 event, booked his spot in the quarterfinals with a 6-1, 6-4 second-round win over Tung-Lin Wu of Chinese Taipei on Wednesday. The 153rd-ranked Canadian sent down three aces and won 81 per cent of his first-service points to seal victory in one hour and 32 minutes.

Galarneau will next take on No. 6 seed Mitchell Krueger of the United States, who edged past his compatriot Aidan Mayo 7-6(7), 6-3 in one hour and 10 minutes.

Also in the top half of the Little Rock Open draw, US-American Brandon Holt defeated Seongchan Hong of South Korea 6-2, 6-3. The 26-year-old Californian capitalized on six of his seven break-point chances to prevail after one hour and 10 minutes. Up next for Holt will be No. 8 seed Abdullah Shelbayh of Jordan, who was a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 winner over 18-yearold home favourite Cooper Williams. The encounter lasted two hours and 12 minutes.
