Britain’s defending champion Katie Boulter has reached the semi-finals of the Rothesay Open Nottingham WTA 250 grass-court event in Nottingham after a 6-2, 6-4 win against Poland’s Magdalena Frech on Friday.

After rain halted play with Boulter leading 4-2 in the opening set, the British No. 1 resumed with renewed intensity when the weather briefly cleared. The 27-year-old displayed determination, overturning a 2-0 deficit to secure two early breaks in the second set.

Boulter has lost only one set in her last eight matches in Nottingham, steadily returning to her title-winning form. She has been commanding from the baseline and seizing every opportunity to attack.
