“It’s always good to win a tournament,” Gaston, who fought his way into the championship match with wins over Daniel Rincon from Spain, Frenchman Clement Tabur, Nikoloz Basilashvili of Georgia and his compatriot Kyrian Jacquet.
“Yesterday, it was my most complete match of the week. Today, there were some very good moments and some really bad ones, like a roller coaster. You have to know how to win matches even when you’re not feeling your best. I’m happy to win the title.”
By winning his fourth ATP Challenger Tour career crown, his first of the season, Gaston collected €16,550 in prize money as well as 100 ATP Ranking points.
