KITZBÜHEL, June 26, 2024
The Generali Open in Kitzbühel is set to deliver a spectacular edition from July 20 to 27, featuring three former champions, two past finalists, a Top-10 star, and two additional Top-20 players. This year’s event will be particularly special as it marks the last appearance of Dominic Thiem and the debut of Austria’s young talent Joel Schwaerzler.
Ticket sales have reached record levels, with all tickets for the final Saturday already sold out and availability for other days running low. The tournament promises thrilling matches and memorable moments, continuing its tradition as Austria’s premier clay-court event.
Leading the field is Top-10 star Casper Ruud, who is considered a strong medal contender for the upcoming Olympics. “He’s a major favorite both for the Olympics and our tournament,” says tournament director Alexander Antonitsch.
Fans in Kitzbühel are also eagerly anticipating the return of Matteo Berrettini. Despite recent injuries, the Italian is making a strong comeback, evidenced by his title win in Marrakech, Morocco and his recent runner-up finish at the BOSS Open in Stuttgart. “He’s an absolute crowd favorite and an asset to any tournament,” Antonitsch notes.
Defending Kitzbühel champion Sebastian Baez, who has already secured titles in Santiago de Chile and Rio de Janeiro this season, is among the favorites, along with fellow-Argentine Tomas Martin Etcheverry and Chileans Nicolas Jarry and Alejandro Tabilo.
