PORTO/STARNBERG, July 22, 2024
Maja Chwalinska from Poland is the champion of the Eupago Porto Open ITF World Tennis Tour W75 tournament organized by the Porto Tennis Association with the support of the Portuguese Tennis Federation and the Porto City Council. The event was held from July 14 to 21 at the Monte Aventino Sports Complex in Porto, Portugal.
After losing two finals at the complex’s indoor courts in 2022 and February this year, World No. 201 Chwalinska finally triumphed in Porto, winning the 25th edition of the city’s largest tournament.
Chwalinska defeated French qualifier Tessah Andrianjafitrimo 7-5, 6-1 in Sunday’s final, claiming her seventh career title and her second consecutive win, as she also won an ITF World Tennis Tour W75 event in Montpellier, France the previous week.
This 10th consecutive victory, achieved without dropping a set in Porto (totaling 20 straight sets since losing the first in France), was similar to her previous four matches of the week. Chwalinska’s game showcased excellent movement, variety as well as long and well-constructed points.

Andrianjafitrimo, competing in her first final in 27 months (13th overall), and a former champion in Figueira da Foz in 2021, managed to cope well with Chwalinska’s tricky playstyle. Despite a rough start trailing 4-1, she nearly secured the first set.
However, after an intense and physical first set lasting around 80 minutes, which saw Chwalinska seeking medical help due to feeling unwell, the 22-year-old Polish player clinched the set in the final moments. She then dominated the second set, winning in one hour and 54 minutes under challenging conditions and in front of a supportive Porto crowd.
