Andy Murray and Dominic Thiem will come to Vienna, playing at the Erste Bank Open 500, held from 22 to 30 October. Both players are currently still competing at the French Open.

The 29-year-old from Great Britain has already reached the semi-finals in Paris and is one of only few players, who was able to defeat the world number one Novak Djokovic in recent times. Murray beat the Serbian in the final of the ATP Masters 1000 event in Rome to claim his 36th ATP career title.

“Andy Muray has managed to even raise his level of play during the last couple of months. He strenghtened his position as world number two with the title in Rome as well as by reaching the finals at the Australian Open and in Madrid. Murray is one of the big stars in the world of tennis and we are glad to welcome him in Vienna this year,” told tournament director Herwig Straka.

Austria’s local hero Dominic Thiem is one of the rising stars on the ATP World Tour. The 22-year-old has reached the stage of the final eight at a Grand Slam for the first time in his career and has already captured three ATP titles this season.

“Dominic’s great results and titles in Buenos Aires, Acapulco and Nice led to a growing interest in tennis in Austria. There has already been a great demand for tickets. Dominic will open his Vienna campaign on Tuesday, which is now called Thiemstag,” said Straka.

Thiem is also looking forward to return to Vienna in October.

“It’s fantastic to come back to Vienna for the seventh time. Now, the goal for me is to win the tournament,” the current world number 15 told. Thiem even has the chance to crack the top 10 after Roland Garros for the first time in his career.
