“It has been a week full of very long matches,” said Taberner, who finished runner-up to Vilius Gaubas in Cordenons last week. “Today, I managed to win in two sets, even though Santiago showed great quality as always. I’m happy because I’ve proven that I’m still in excellent physical and mental condition. In this sport, it’s very difficult to always be at your best, and I’ve personally experienced a challenging start to the season, but I never stopped working with intensity.”
With his title win in Umbria, Taberner earned €10,200 in prize money as well as 75 ATP Ranking points. The Valencia native climbs 56 spots in the rankings, placing him just outside the Top 200, at World No. 205.
“I don’t pay much attention to the ranking, and I leave the statistics to the experts. My main goal is simply to play as many tournaments as possible in my best condition.” Reflecting on the atmosphere in Todi, Taberner added, “It was special. We really felt pampered here, and I have to thank all the staff and the fans because they contributed to making these seven days unforgettable.”
