Roman Safiullin has clinched the title of the Cary Tennis Classic. The top seed of the ATP Challenger Tour 100 hard-court tournament outlasted Italian qualifier Matia Bellucci 1-6, 7-5, 7-5 in Saturday’s singles final.
Safiullin battled his way into the championship match with wins over Italian qualifier Matteo Gigante, Terence Atmane of France, US-American Christopher Eubanks and No. 4 seed David Goffin from Belgium.
Safiullin withstood seven aces in the title match and broke his rival’s serve four times to secure victory in two hours and 53 minutes.

The 27-year-old Russian captured his fifth ATP Challenger Tour career title, his first since the 2023 Koblenz Open in Germany. Safiullin earned $18,230 in prize money as well as 100 ATP Ranking points.
In Friday’s doubles final, the Australian team of John-Patrick Smith and John Peers received a walkover from Federico Agustin Gomez of Argentina and Petros Tsitsipas from Greece to take the doubles Championship.
The 10th edition of the Cary Tennis Classic offered a total prize purse of $133,250 and was held at Cary Tennis Park. Cary, located in North Carolina, is a vibrant town known for its high quality of life and family-friendly atmosphere.
