Lukas Neumayer has reached the semi-finals of the NÖ Open powered by EVN in Tulln, Austria. The 21-year-old home favourite fought past No. 2 seed Jerome Kym of Switzerland 7-5, 6-7(3), 6-4 in the stage of the last eight on Friday.
Neumayer withstood 13 aces and broke his rival’s serve five times to seal victory in two hours and 29 minutes.

“I’m extremely happy with this win,” said Neumayer. “At Challenger level, anyone can actually beat anyone. I think today I made the right decisions in the key moments. A crucial factor was that I managed to return many of his really strong serves deep and with good placement.”
Up next for the World No. 320 coached by Günter Bresnik will be Rudolf Molleker. The 23-year-old German also needed to go the distance, beating Czech youngster Andrew Paulson 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-3 in two hours and 16 minutes.
In other action, Jan Choinski cruised past German qualifier Max Hans Rehberg 6-1, 6-1 in only 57 minutes to face Czech alternate Jakub Nicod in the semis of the ATP Challenger Tour 100 clay-court tournament. The 20-year-old Praha native edged out Russian qualifier Ivan Gakhov 6-3, 5-7, 6-2. The encounter lasted two hours and 13 minutes.
