RENNES/STARNBERG, September 16, 2024
Geoffrey Blancaneaux, Sascha Gueymard Wayenburg, Adrian Mannarino, Harold Mayot and finally Quentin Halys. Jacob Fearnley‘s journey at the Open Blot Rennes 2024 was remarkable, as the Scot eliminated five French players to claim victory in a thrilling final.
After being bageled 6-0 in the first set in less than 20 minutes, Fearnley fought his way back, winning the second set in a tie-break. More consistent and solid, the World No. 163 then took the lead in the third set.
Having saved two match points against Halys, he faced the resilience of the Frenchman, who in turn saved several match points, giving the crowd inside the Le Liberté Arena a spectacular show. Fearnley ultimately triumphed 6-3, lifting the trophy of the 18th edition of the Open Blot Rennes ATP Challenger Tour event.

“The crowd was incredible, I heard them cheering for the great points,” said Fearnley. “They were amazing with me. I only played against French players, but they were very fair. I didn’t expect to see so many people. I want to thank the entire tournament organization, the ball kids, the line judges, and everyone who makes this tournament so special. I really want to come back here.”
The 23-year-old Briton captured his third ATP Challenger Tour career title following his triumphs on home soil in Nottingham and Lincoln, United States earlier in the season. Fearnley earned €16,550 in prize money as well as 100 ATP Ranking points.
