ITF Press Release, September 16, 2024

The 12 nations competing in the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Finals have announced their teams for the finale of this year’s women’s World Cup of Tennis.

The event will be held from 13-20 November at the Palacio de Deportes Jose Maria Martin Carpena Arena in Malaga, Spain. The event will overlap with the men’s Davis Cup Final 8 (19-24 November), to create a unique, world-class fortnight of international team tennis.

The 2024 Billie Jean King Cup Finals line-up includes Jessica Pegula (USA), Paula Badosa (Spain) and Naomi Osaka (Japan), with Leylah Fernandez set to spearhead reigning world champions Canada’s defence of their title.

World No.5 Jasmine Paolini will lead 2023 runners-up Italy in a team that also includes Sara Errani, with whom Paolini won the women’s doubles Olympic gold medal in Paris this summer.

The 12 nations will compete in a knock-out competition for the right to be crowned world champion. Round one sees four ties being contested from Wednesday 13 to Friday 15 November, followed by the quarter-finals on 16-17 November, the semi-finals on 18-19 November, and the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup final to be played on Wednesday 20 November.

Conchita Martinez, Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Finals Tournament Director, said: “This is a stellar line up of some of the world’s best players, and I can’t wait to watch them battle it out in Malaga in November. As a player, there is no greater honour than representing your nation, and every player who puts on their team’s colours in November will be giving everything they have to win this prestigious title for their country. Overlapping with the Davis Cup Final 8 is going to make for a spectacular fortnight of tennis and I can’t wait to welcome the tennis world to Malaga this November.”
