The Credit One Charleston Open announced Thursday that World No. 3 Jessica Pegula has officially entered the player field for the 2025 tournament. The top-ranked American and recent US Open finalist is a two-time Charleston semifinalist.

Next year will mark Pegula’s seventh time she’s competed in the main draw of the WTA 500 event, the largest women’s-only professional tennis tournament in North America, which will be held from March 29 to April 6 at Credit One Stadium on Daniel Island in Charleston, South Carolina. She’s 11-6 in Charleston main draw matches on the Lowcountry green clay.

“We are excited to welcome Jessie Pegula back to Charleston for the Credit One Charleston Open. She has a great history with our tournament and her remarkable performances on the court have always been a highlight with tennis fans,” said Bob Moran, President of Beemok Sports & Entertainment, in a statement. “She is ending her 2024 with amazing momentum, winning in Canada and making the finals in both Cincinnati and the US Open. As we celebrate 25 incredible years of tennis in this great city, we’re looking forward to hosting an exceptional player field and event, with more exciting announcements coming your way.”

Pegula has captured six WTA singles titles — including Berlin and Toronto this year — and seven WTA doubles crowns. After representing the U.S. at the Paris Olympic Games, she recently enjoyed a career breakthrough by reaching her first major final at the 2024 US Open — her best Grand Slam result. A quarterfinalist in all four Grand Slam events, Pegula has reached six major quarterfinals overall.

“I’m always excited to return to Charleston for the Credit One Charleston Open,” Pegula said in a statement. “This tournament holds a special place in my heart, with wonderful memories from my two semifinal appearances and time spent in the Lowcountry over the last decade. I can’t wait to kick off my clay season in Charleston next year and play in front of a home crowd at Credit One Stadium.”

The Credit One Charleston Open was recognized as the WTA 500 Tournament of the year in 2022 and 2023. Originally held on Hilton Head Island and now in its 53rd year, the tournament will celebrate 25 years in Charleston next year. It annually hosts more than 90,000 attendees on Daniel Island and is the traditional start to the WTA Tour’s clay-court season.

Ticket packages will be available for purchase at creditonecharlestonopen.com starting October 15.
