Top-10 American Emma Navarro has committed to play in her hometown tournament, the Hologic WTA Tour Credit One Charleston Open, next year. The announcement was made by the tournament on Wednesday.
The World No. 8 Navarro, a Lowcountry local who was was a US Open semifinalist and an Olympian earlier this year, will compete in front of a Charleston crowd for the sixth time when the tournament takes place from March 29 to April 6, 2025 on Daniel Island in Charleston, S.C.
The Credit One Charleston Open, the largest women’s-only professional tennis tournament in North America, will be celebrating its 25th year in Charleston in 2025. The field already includes World No. 3 Jessica Pegula of the United States.
The 23-year-old has made waves on the global stage this season, reaching her first Grand Slam semifinal at the US Open and breaking into the Top 10 for the first time in her career. 2025 will mark Navarro’s sixth appearance in the #CharlestonOpen main draw.

The 23-year-old Navarro has climbed from No. 58 to No. 8 in the world rankings over the past year. Before the 2024 season, Navarro had never advanced beyond the second round of a Grand Slam. This season, she reached the third round of the Australian Open, the fourth round of Roland Garros, the quarterfinals of Wimbledon, and the semifinals of the US Open.
“I’m excited to return to my hometown tournament, the Credit One Charleston Open,” Navarro said in a statement. “Competing in front of my home crowd means so much to me. This year has brought many career highlights and cherished memories, and the fans from Charleston have been with me every step of the way.”

Besides her success in the four majors, Navarro garnered her first WTA singles title last January at Hobart. She also reached the semifinals in Auckland, San Diego, Bad Homburg, Toronto and Monterrey and the quarterfinals at Indian Wells. This summer, Navarro qualified for her first Olympic Games and competed for Team USA in Paris. She’s compiled a 50-20 win-loss record in all competitions and earned more than $2.6 million in prize money this season.
