RIO DE JANEIRO/STARNBERG, October 20, 2024
Nauhany Silva and Pedro Dietrich, two athletes from the Team Rede Tenis Brasil, claimed the titles at the Australian Open Juniors Series South America this Saturday at the Rio Tennis Academy in Rio de Janeiro. Along with their victories, both champions earned wild card entries into the main draw of the Australian Open Junior event in 2025.
The finals kicked off with the girls’ match between 14-year-old Silva and Pietra Rivoli, who was last year’s runner-up and also a teammate in Team Rede Tenis Brasil (RTB). Silva displayed a more aggressive style on the court, winning 6-3, 6-2. “I had already been to Roland Garros, and now I’m heading to Australia, so I’m really happy for this new opportunity,” said Silva, who had previously won the Roland Garros Juniors Series in Sao Paulo and competed in the junior tournament in Paris this year.
In the boys’ final, Dietrich faced a tough three-hour battle against Leonardo Storck from Mato Grosso, eventually winning 6-4, 5-7, 6-4. “It feels incredible to play such a major tournament like the Australian Open for the first time. It will be my first time in Australia, and I hope to make the most of this new experience,” he commented.
