World No. 214 Tristan Boyer clinched the title of the Campeonato Internacional de Tenis ATP Challenger Tour 100 event in Campinas, Brazil. The packed Joao Lima Centre Court witnessed an intense and thrilling final on Sunday.
Boyer faced off against Argentina’s Juan Pablo Ficovich. The 23-year-old US-American took control early, breaking Ficovich’s serve and maintaining his lead to secure the set, winning 6-2. In the second set, Ficovich responded by improving his returns, taking it 6-3.
In the decisive third set, Ficovich initially looked set for victory after breaking Boyer’s serve early on. However, Boyer, who has been traveling with Uruguayan coach and former top 30 player Marcelo Felippini for three weeks, broke back and turned the match around, claiming a 6-2, 3-6 6-3 victory in two hours and three minutes.

Boyer captured his second ATP Challenger Tour career title following his triumph in Merida, Mexico in March. It’s his biggest career triumph to date. The victory is expected to boost him to a new career-high ranking of World No. 159.
“Winning titles is always very difficult. I only had one before, and you can never predict when you’ll win. But when you play well, win matches, and build confidence, you start to expect good results. A title, though, is always a huge satisfaction. I am very happy with this trophy, the biggest of my career so far, and also with the ranking I achieved here in Campinas. It’s a reflection of the work my team and I are putting in, showing that we are on the right path,” said Boyer, who collected $18,230in prize money as well as 100 ATP Ranking points.
