Reflecting on his win, Gomez expressed satisfaction with the hard work he has put in, especially over the past challenging year, stating, “I’m happy to show it on the court and get results. This 2024 season has been Gomez’s best yet, marking his third ATP Challenger Tour title win after victories on Italian soil in Trieste and Milan. The 27-year-old, who was born in Merlo, studied sports management at the University of Louisville, Kentucky, and also worked as a coach at the Willy Canas Academy in Aventura, Florida. He returned to competitive play in late 2021 and has since progressed impressively.
During the tournament, Gomez’s path to victory included tough early-round matches where he had to battle through three sets. However, from the quarterfinals onward, he dominated, showcasing his aggressive, powerful game to win his remaining matches in straight sets, including the final.
