MUNICH, November 18, 2024
The BMW Open has announced its first players to compete in the first edition as an ATP 500 tournament, scheduled from April 12 to 20, 2025. The initial line-up features three top-tier players, all ranked in the top four of the current ATP Rankings: Jannik Sinner, Alexander Zverev and Taylor Fritz.
Sinner expressed his excitement about playing in Munich for the first time, saying, “I’m really looking forward to playing in Munich for the first time. See you all in April.”
This marks the first time in the tournament’s over 100-year history that the World No. 1 will compete in the capital city of Bavaria. Sinner has had a remarkable 2024 season, capped with his ATP Finals victory in Turin on Sunday without dropping a set. Other achievements include titles at the Australian Open, US Open, three Masters 1000 tournaments, and two ATP 500 events.
The two-time BMW Open champion (2017, 2018) Alexander Zverev is returning to Munich. The World No. 2 reflected on his strong 2024 season, including ATP Masters 1000 titles in Rome and Paris, a French Open final appearance, and a semifinal run at the ATP Finals.
“I can’t wait to see the German fans again and am very excited to return to Munich for the first 500 edition. It’s going to be an exciting new chapter,” Zverev said.
Guess who will be playing our first ATP 500 edition next year…
