Tennis Australia Press Release, November 22, 2024
Tennis Australia and Red Bull will bring together six of the world’s best players for a unique, one-night only, tie-break tennis event, all set against a DJ dropping beats in Rod Laver Arena.
With 15-time quad singles Grand Slam champion Dylan Alcott as the MC, the Red Bull Bassline exhibition match will take place in RLA as a standalone event on Tuesday 7 January alongside an action-packed Opening Week at Australian Open 2025.
Red Bull and Australian Open will join forces as Red Bull becomes the Official Energy Drink Partner of the AO – the brand’s first partnership with a Grand Slam.
The star-studded lineup for Red Bull Bassline will be announced in the coming weeks. World No.2 Alexander Zverev, World No.3 Carlos Alcaraz, World No.19 Karen Khachanov and World No.8 Andrey Rublev have all taken out the top prize previously at Bassline events held in Vienna and Madrid.
“We couldn’t be more excited to be partnering with Red Bull for the AO and to bring its iconic Bassline event to take place alongside Opening Week,” Tennis Australia’s Chief Commercial Officer Cedric Cornelis said.
“Red Bull Bassline is all about bringing fans closer to the players – complementing the spirit of Opening Week at the AO. Players will be warming up courtside and interacting with fans, while the live DJ and Dylan Alcott as MC create an electric atmosphere.
“Red Bull has long been at the forefront of innovation in sport, working with star power talent and introducing them to a new generation of fans through competitions and stunts that push the boundaries of sport as we know it.
“We’re looking forward to announcing more ways we’ll be collaborating at AO 2025, including in the AO’s newest precinct, TOPCOURT.”
As the Official Energy Drink of the AO, Red Bull energy drinks will be available throughout the precinct at Australian Open 2025, with Red Bull and mixed cocktails being served from the Red Bull activation on Grand Slam Oval.
Red Bull will also become the Official Energy Drink Partner of Padel Australia. Red Bull has continued to deepen its investment in tennis and Padel in recent years, hosting professional tennis and Padel events in Europe. Red Bull TV is also the global broadcaster for the Premier Padel Tour.
Red Bull Bassline sees players compete in a tie-break tournament, with short tie breaks of up to five points played and matches decided in a best-of-three format. The best two players are seeded as top players of the two groups, with the remaining four players drawn into the groups. The group matches are played in a round robin format.
The tournament is interactive with no chair official, and players are left to decide points for themselves if necessary, ensuring an entertaining spectacle every time.
Tickets for Red Bull Bassline will go on-sale in early December. Visit ausopen.com to find out more.
