Comesana Clinches Engie Open Title In Sao Paulo

Francisco Comesana has clinched the title of the Torneio Internactional Masculino de Tenis Ano 7 – Engie Open in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The No. 3 seed of the ATP Challenger Tour 75 hard-court event emerged victorious from the all-Argentine singles final, winning 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 against fifth favourite Thiago Tirante on Sunday.

Comesana withstood 12 aces and struck seven of his own. The 24-year-old Mar del Plata native broke his compatriot three times to succeed in two hours and 16 minutes.

Comesana claimed his third ATP Challenger Tour title of the season following his triumphs in Oeiras, Portugal and on home soil in Buenos Aires. By earning $11,200 in prize money as well as 75 ATP Ranking points, he has reached a new career-high Ranking of World No. 84.

The inaugural Torneio Internactional Masculino de Tenis Ano 7 – Engie Open offered a total prize pool of $82,000 and was hosted by the Alphaville Tenis Clube in Barueri, a municipality in the State of Sao Paulo located in the northwestern part of the Metropolitan Region of Sao Paulo.
