One of the most talented players in Chinese tennis recently, Bu Yunchaokete, will join the already star-studded list of players confirmed to compete at the Bank of China Hong Kong Tennis Open (“BOCHKTO”) 2025, at Victoria Park Tennis Centre Court from 29 December 2024 to 5 January 2025.
As tournament organiser Hong Kong China Tennis Association (“HKCTA”) welcomes back Bank of China (Hong Kong) (“BOCHK”) as title sponsor of BOCHKTO. The ATP Season opening event is delighted to host for the very first time the 22-year-old Bu who will join defending champion Andrey Rublev, highly gifted left hander Shang Juncheng, and local hope Coleman Wong Chak-lam to test their early season form at this highly popular tournament.
In a breakthrough 2024 season, Bu reached a career high ranking of 69 following two ATP Tour semi-finals which included a straight sets’ win over BOCHKTO defending champion and current world number 8 Andrey Rublev.
The Xinjiang player said: “I am looking forward to starting my 2025 season at Bank of China Hong Kong Tennis Open. It is a high-quality field and the tournament will be a strong gauge on where my game is following the year-end break. I had a very strong end to 2024 and am very keen to carry that momentum forward to make a big push into the top 50 in the coming months. I have heard many great things about BOCHKTO after its debut last year, and I cannot wait to experience all that Hong Kong has to offer in a few weeks.”
China is currently enjoying a golden era for men’s tennis with three players including Shang and Bu who are fixtures in the top 75 in the ATP world rankings.
Michael Cheng, President of HKCTA said: “What a treat for Bank of China Hong Kong Tennis Open fans to have two of the most exciting young talents from mainland China in the draw this year. Together with our very own Coleman Wong, and the returning champion Andrey Rublev, the 2025 edition of the tournament is gearing up for an explosive start to the season. Bu Yunchaokete is an interesting tennis player and one to look out for in the new season so we are delighted to host him at the BOCHKTO 2025 before he heads to Australia.”
