BONN/STARNBERG, December 18, 2024
From August 3rd to August 10th, 2025, the city of Bonn will once again welcome tennis players from all around the world. The Bonn Open, first held in 2024, has already become one of the ten largest tennis events in Germany. Plans are already in place to further develop the tournament as part of the ATP Challenger Tour and to establish Bonn as a regular venue for world-class tennis. Bonn entrepreneur André Christ will support the event as the Chairman of the Tournament Advisory Board.
“With over 10,000 spectators at the venue during tournament week, including more than 1,000 fans at the final, the premiere in August far exceeded our expectations. This success story will continue,” said organizer and tournament director Lars Zimmermann.
André Christ, founder of SAP LeanIX and a passionate tennis player, aims to make the event an internationally significant sporting event in the region. He emphasized, “Bonn offers the perfect infrastructure for such an event and will benefit economically. Equally important to me is inspiring local youth with the values of competitive sports—setting goals, working hard, and persevering. These qualities are crucial not only in sports but also in professional life and entrepreneurship. A world-class tournament like the Bonn Open shows what can be achieved and how enjoyable the journey can be.”
As one of the ten largest tennis events in Germany, the tournament will be streamed worldwide in 2025, attracting a top-tier international field. Zimmermann added, “Visitors will have the chance to see tomorrow’s stars, like this year’s German rising stars Justin Engel and Max Schönhaus. We are announcing this early to give fans the chance to secure their tickets.”
Last year, the tournament featured German Davis Cup players such as Henri Squire, Maximilian Marterer, and two-time French Open doubles champion Andreas Mies. International stars, including Martin Klizan, Damir Dzumhur, and Marco Cecchinato, were also part of the line-up. Bolivian Hugo Dellien captured the title of the inaugural Bonn Open.
