MUNICH, February 7, 2025

The ITF World Tennis Tour men’s elite will once again compete in the TennisBase Open in Oberhaching this year. From February 9 to 16, 2025, the ninth edition of the $15,000 indoor carpet tournament will take place at the national training center in Bavaria.

With six German players having already lifted the tournament trophy, numerous professionals of the German Tennis Federation (DTB) are once again aiming for the title in Oberhaching. Leading the charge is World No. 377 Mats Rosenkranz from Essen, a powerful server who tops the entry list. The 26-year-old left-hander has consistently performed well on Bavarian soil, particularly at the ATP Challenger tournament in Ismaning, where he has won at least one match in all six of his appearances.

Former champion Möller returns

Marvin Möller, listed at No. 5 in the tournament seeding, returns to Oberhaching after winning the title in 2022. The 26-year-old from Hamburg is making a comeback after a three-month injury break and is eager to regain his past form on familiar ground.

Another promising German talent in the draw is Diego Dedura-Palomero. The 16-year-old from Berlin celebrated some of his biggest career achievements in Bavaria. Last year, he secured his first Challenger main draw win at the Schwaben Open and triumphed at the ITF German Juniors in Bamberg on the junior circuit.

On familiar territory, Cedrik-Marcel Stebe, a former World No. 71, is looking to take the next step in his return to the professional tour. The 34-year-old left-hander, who famously secured Germany’s World Group 1 Davis Cup survival in 2012 by defeating former World No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt at the Rothenbaum venue in Hamburg, recently made his comeback at the Cadolzburg Open after nearly two years away due to injury.

Like Stebe, Jeremy Schifris has received a wild card into the main draw. The 23-year-old, who recently graduated from Drake University in Iowa, has returned to TennisBase Oberhaching and is now determined to establish himself on the men’s tour.

Top Juniors Schönhaus and McDonald set to compete

Max Schönhaus and Niels McDonald will make the most of their opportunity at TennisBase Oberhaching. After competing in the Dunlop Bavarian Junior Winter Championships, both DTB junior players have earned direct entry into the TennisBase Open thanks to their junior world rankings.

Several other DTB players will be competing in the qualifying rounds and may also receive wild cards for either the qualifiers or main draw.
