GUIA DE ISORA/STARNBERG, February 11, 2025
One day after Pablo Carreno Busta’s victory, the Tenerife Challenger 2 main draw has officially begun at the Abama Tennis Academy in Guia de Isora. The Canary Island is set for another exciting week of top-level tennis, with strong competition aiming to prevent the former World No. 10 from securing back-to-back titles. Among the title contenders are top seed Dominik Koepfer from Germany, returning Finnish star Emil Ruusuvuori, Portugal’s Henrique Rocha, and last week’s runner-up Alejandro Moro Canas of Spain.
The second tournament is being launched with enthusiasm, highlighted by the words of Miguel Diaz Roman, president of the Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET), who praised MEF Tennis Events for their exceptional organization. MEF Tennis Events is responsible for both tournaments, in collaboration with Tenerife Tourism.

Diaz Roman: “Tenerife is a Tennis Paradise”
To witness a significant moment for Spanish tennis, Miguel Diaz Roman made an early-morning flight to attend the final of the Tenerife Challenger 1. “For us, these tournaments are fundamental, and I couldn’t have asked for a better final,” said the RFET president. “I had to wake up very early on Sunday, but I’m happy to see Spanish players shine in both singles and doubles.”
Diaz Roman also praised MEF Tennis Events for their work in promoting Tenerife as a premier tennis destination: “The Abama Tennis Academy is an outstanding facility, and Marcello Marchesini (MEF Tennis Events president) understands the importance of these events. With the support of sponsors, I am sure the tournament will continue to grow.”
Before the final between Carreno Busta and Moro Canas, Diaz Roman also shared his thoughts on the ATP Tour and the rising rivalry between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz: “In the coming years, the battle between them will define men’s tennis. Their matches will captivate fans worldwide and elevate the sport. 2024 has already been incredible, with both players winning major titles, and they are still so young. They will remain at the top for a long time.”
