The only remaining Croatian representative at the ITF World Tennis Tour M15 tournament of the Istarska Rivijera in Rovinj, 23-year-old Nikola Basic (ATP 925), lost in the second round on Thursday. The third seed, 21-year-old Ukrainian Viacheslav Bielinskyi (ATP 540) allowed Basic only two games, defeating him 6-1, 6-1 in 68 minutes.

Bielinskyi was the more effective player. Basic failed to win a single game on his serve, and both games he won came as breaks in the final games of each set.

For the winner of last year’s Opatija tournament of the Istarska Rivijera, this is his third quarterfinal appearance at the oldest professional tennis tournament in Croatia. Bielinskyi will face 27-year-old Spaniard Sergi Perez Contri (ATP 721) for a spot in the semifinals, who was his opponent in the final of the Opatija tournament two years ago.
