Grand Prix De Madrid Returns With 7th Edition Of ATP Challenger Comunidad De Madrid

The ATP has released the entry list for the highly anticipated return of the Grand Prix de Madrid with the 7th edition of the ATP Challenger Comunidad de Madrid by Mercedes-Benz Star Madrid. The list features over 120 players from 41 countries across America, Asia, and Europe.

The event will take place from April 6 to 13 on the clay courts of the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, near the Manzanares River, at an altitude of 585 meters. It will be the seventh clay-court Challenger tournament in Europe and will award 348 ATP points among the 50 players in the singles competition, along with a total prize pool of €145,250.

Among the 21 players currently set to compete in the main draw—ranked between World No. 87 and 160—there are participants from 17 different nations, including Germany, Austria, Bolivia, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, the United States, Finland, France, Great Britain, Italy, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Switzerland, and Spain.

Additionally, the alternates list features players from 15 more countries, including Argentina, Belgium, Bulgaria, Colombia, South Korea, Slovakia, Hungary, India, Japan, Jordan, Lithuania, Peru, Portugal, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine, along with 14 Spanish players.

Among the 21 players in the main draw and the top 8 alternates within the ATP top 201, as well as former Madrid champion Pedro Cachin, the tournament features an impressive collective résumé, including:

  • 15 Grand Slam titles (9 of them at the junior level)
  • 48 ATP titles and 168 ATP Challenger titles
  • 221 Davis Cup ties, with 201 victories achieved by 21 players representing 16 nations
  • Three Davis Cup champions and two runners-up in three different editions
  • Regarding ATP rankings, ten players have been ranked in the ATP Top 50, while thirteen were Top 10 in juniors, including three former world No. 1 juniors.
