“It was not an easy match. The first set of course was really the key to this victory. I was playing well but all the credit to Maja, she was playing amazing tennis. She really made me work for this one. I’m really happy we could get a win for Team Ukraine,” said Elina Svitolina after her win against Maja Chwalinska.
Elsewhere Kazakhstan defeated Colombia in Group D in Brisbane to secure their place at the 2025 Finals, while Canada and Slovakia began their weeks strongly with wins against Romania and Denmark, respectively.

“I’m super happy to get the win and looking forward to the Finals. It was a better match than yesterday. I know I can improve, but I think it was a good match,” Elena Rybakina said following her straight-sets victory over Yuliana Lizarazo.
Saturday will see two winner-takes-all clashes, with a Finals place on offer to both the victor of the Group B match-up between Czechia and Spain in Ostrava and the Group F showdown between Great Britain and Netherlands in The Hague.
At regional group-level, Turkiye and Belgium secured their places at November’s Play-offs after ending their weeks with victories at Europe/Africa Group I in Vilnius, Lithuania. That event concludes on Saturday, as does Asia/Oceania Group I (Pune, India) and Americas Group I (Guadalajara, Mexico).
