STUTTGART, April 16, 2025
US-American tennis is set to take center stage at this year’s BOSS Open in Stuttgart, as the top four male players from the United States – Taylor Fritz (ATP No. 4), Ben Shelton (15), Frances Tiafoe (18), and now Tommy Paul (12) – have all confirmed their participation in the prestigious grass-court tournament, which runs from June 7 to 15 at the Tennis Club Weissenhof.
The latest addition of Tommy Paul brings further star power to the ATP 250 grass-court tournament that is already boasting a strong field. Paul, currently enjoying a career-high ranking of No. 12, has been one of the most consistent performers on tour in recent seasons. His biggest title to date came on grass, at the 2023 Queen’s Club Championships in London, and he also reached the quarterfinals at Wimbledon in 2024, solidifying his reputation as a dangerous contender on this surface.
Paul’s 2025 campaign has also been impressive, highlighted by a quarterfinal run at the Australian Open – where he was edged out by Alexander Zverev – and semifinal appearances in Adelaide, Dallas, and Houston. With 1,000 ATP points already under his belt this season, Paul currently sits inside the Top 10 in the Race to Turin, underlining his ambitions to break into the elite group of ATP Finals contenders.
Known for his aggressive forehand and fast, confident net play, Paul’s game is particularly well-suited to grass. “I really enjoy playing on grass and I’m excited to be heading to the BOSS OPEN in Stuttgart,” Paul said. “I want to put on a great show for the fans. I want them to see that I’m having fun on court – and that they can enjoy watching me play.”
Alongside Paul and the US-American trio of Fritz, Shelton, and Tiafoe, home favorite Alexander Zverev is also set to compete, ensuring that five of the world’s Top 18 players will be part of this year’s Stuttgart draw. Zverev, the current World No. 5, will be looking to capture his first title on home soil at the Weissenhof.
The impressive field doesn’t stop there. Germany’s No. 2, Jan-Lennard Struff – a finalist in Stuttgart in 2022 – has also confirmed his participation. He’ll be joined by two-time Stuttgart champion Matteo Berrettini (Italy, 2019 and 2022), as well as crowd favorites Gael Monfils (France) and Nick Kyrgios (Australia), both known for their electrifying style and on-court charisma.
Tournament Director Edwin Weindorfer highlighted the growing international appeal of the event: “The fact that the top four American players are all coming to Stuttgart this year significantly boosts the prestige of the BOSS OPEN. It also increases the tournament’s visibility in the key U.S. tennis market. And with the entry deadline still more than four weeks away, we expect to receive even more high-profile confirmations soon.”
With its strong lineup, the BOSS OPEN 2025 is shaping up to be one of the standout events of the grass-court season, offering a thrilling mix of talent, entertainment, and top-level competition ahead of Wimbledon.
