FERGANA, June 19, 2016
Radu Albot captured his second title on the ATP Challenger Tour within three weeks. The 26-year-old from Moldova emerged victorious from Sunday’s final of the $50,000 Fergana Challenger, winning 6-4, 6-2 over top-seed Konstantin Kravchuk.
The tournament’s number two won 85% of his second service points, saved two of the three break points he faced, converting four of his own. Albot finished the encounter after one hour and 20 minutes. The world number 124 continues his way back into the top 100 after he had lifted the trophy of the Franken Challenge in Fürth two weeks ago.
Albot claimed his fourth Challenger career title, his second on the hard courts in Uzbekistan following his victory in Fergana in 2013. He takes away $7,200 in prize money as well as 90 ATP ranking points.
On Saturday, Frenchman Yannick Jankovits and Luca Margaroli from Switzerland clinched the doubles tite, winning 6-4, 7-6 over Toshihide Matsui and Vishnu Vardhan in one hour and 24 minutes.
