Ruben Bemelmans took his first ITF Future title since 2010 winning the final of the 12th edition of the MLP-Cup in Nussloch 6-3, 6-7, 7-6 and denies a third consecutive trophy for 19-year-old Maximilian Marterer, who emerged victorious in Stuttgart-Stammheim as well as Kaarst in the two previous weeks.

The German teenager had a nervous start into the all-leftie-affair hitting a couple of unforced errors and Bemelmans, who reached the final without dropping a set, capitalized on the very first break point of the match in the opening game. The 27-year-old Belgian, who survived the qualifying at the Australian Open and lost to Ivo Karlovic in Melbourne’s first round, played his only second Future event within the last five years with some excellent returns and after Marterer had double faulted in the ninth game for the second time, he took the opening set in 34 minutes.
By the end of the second frame, the youngster from Nuremberg played his best tennis with aggressive baseline shots, won the tie-break 7-2 and took the final the distance.
An even and exciting third set without any breaks went into the decider again, in which Bemelmans converted his first match point after two hours and ten minutes when Marterer missed a cross-court forehand shot.
After winning the ATP Challenger events in Wolfsburg (2011) and in Eckental (2014), Bemelmans gained all of his last three titles in Germany. It was the Belgians tenth career title on the ITF Future Circuit.

Earlier the day, second-seeded pair of Sander Arends and Adam Majchrowicz gained the doubles title winning the final 6-4, 3-6, 10-5 against Denis Kapric and Lukas Ruepke. For the Dutch-Polish-combination it was the second doubles trophy within two weeks after winning in Kaarst seven days ago.
