KITZBÜHEL, July 15, 2016
Former Austrian number one Jürgen Melzer has received the last wild card into the main draw of the Generali Open held from 16 to 23 July 2016 in Kitzbühel.
He will join his brother Gerald. The current world number 105 has eventually achieved direct entry into the main draw of the ATP 250 event and does not need his wild card anymore.
“We were hoping for this scenario. Consequently, two of the four Austrians will now step into action on Tuesday,” tournament director Alexander Antonitsch is happy. Top seed Dominic Thiem is expected to open his title bid on Wednesday.
The 72nd edition of the tournament will kick off with the main draw ceremony on Saturday morning, taking place in the Kitzbühel’s village centre.
