CAMPINAS/STARNBERG, March 18, 2026
One of the most traditional events in South American professional tennis is set to return, as the 16th edition of the Copa Internacional de Tenis takes place from April 5 to 11 at the Sociedade Hipica de Campinas in Campinas, Brazil. The ATP Challenger 75 tournament will award 75 ranking points to the champion and offer total prize money of $107,000.
Played on clay courts and part of the ATP Challenger Tour, the tournament has established itself as the most traditional Challenger event in Brazil. Each year, it attracts players from around the world and serves as a key platform for those aiming to climb the rankings and establish themselves on the professional circuit.
Over the years, the event has helped launch the careers of several top players. Former champions include Guido Pella, Cristian Garin, Sebastian Baez, Francisco Cerundolo, and Diego Schwartzman, who reached a career-high ranking of world No. 8.
“Campinas has a very strong history within the Challenger circuit, and we are proud to keep this tournament on the Brazilian calendar for so many years,” said tournament director Danilo Marcelino. “We have seen many players compete here who later established themselves among the best in the world. That is one of the hallmarks of this event and of the Instituto Sports—promoting the growth of the sport.”
Argentine players have historically dominated the competition, winning seven titles since its inception. Among Brazilians, only Guilherme Clezar (2013) and Thiago Monteiro (2023) have lifted the singles trophy, with Monteiro being the most recent home champion.
“The Campinas Challenger has always played an important role for Brazilian and South American players, offering the chance to compete at a high level and earn valuable ranking points,” Marcelino added. “We expect another strong edition with great matches for the fans.”
The 2026 champion will join a prestigious list of winners, further cementing their place in a tournament that has become a reference point on the South American tennis calendar.
As in previous editions, the event will bring together experienced professionals and promising young talents seeking to break through on the international stage. Entry to the tournament will be free for spectators, with further details to be announced soon.
