Zink Stuns Huesler In Morelos Open Quarterfinals

The semifinal lineup at the Morelos Open Metaxchange 2026 is set following an intense quarterfinal day highlighted by the exit of the defending champion and a series of high-quality matches at Estadio Morelos.

US-American Tyler Zink recorded an upset, knocking out fifth seed and reigning champion Marc-Andrea Huesler of Switzerland in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, with a composed performance from start to finish. The world No. 331 withstood 12 aces and broke his rival’s serve three times to advance in 64 minutes.

Zink will next take on his compatriot Michael Mmoh, who came from a set down to defeat Mexico’s Rodrigo Pacheco Mendez in the longest match of the day, 6-7(7), 6-2, 6-2, which lasted two hours and 53 minutes.

In other action, eighth seed Andres Martin defeated fellow US-American Alafia Ayeni 7-5, 6-3 in one hour and 11 minutes. Japan’s Taro Daniel secured his place in the semifinals of the ATP Challenger 75 hard-court event with a solid 6-3, 6-4 victory over Argentina’s Facundo Mena. The encounter lasted one hour and 19 minutes.
