CAMPINAS/STARNBERG, March 26, 2026
The Copa Internacional de Tenis de Campinas, the most traditional ATP Challenger tournament in Brazil, will take place from April 5 to 12 at the Sociedade Hipica de Campinas. This year’s edition is set to feature a strong Brazilian presence, particularly players from the interior of São Paulo, combined with the tournament’s trademark support from local fans.
Among the national names are Gustavo Heide from Ribeirao Preto and Matheus Pucinelli, who will enjoy home advantage in Campinas. Both players arrive highly motivated and are expected to benefit from full stands throughout the week—one of the defining characteristics of the event.
Also drawing attention is Joao Lucas Reis from Pernambuco, who, despite not being from Sao Paulo, has close ties to the region and is likely to receive strong family support from the stands. Reis adjusted his schedule to arrive early in Campinas after a demanding stretch on the tour.
“I’m playing Campinas and decided to use the previous week to train and arrive more rested. It’s a very traditional tournament, always full, with great support for Brazilian players—that makes a big difference. I really enjoy playing there, also because of my family. My mother will be there, my brother lives nearby, and I’ll get to see my nephew. It’s a tournament I always like to come back to,” said Reis, who will continue his schedule with Challenger events in Tallahassee and Savannah in the United States.
Crowd Support as a Key Factor
The atmosphere in Campinas is known as one of the most vibrant on the South American Challenger circuit. Matches are played in front of large crowds, with free tickets available online.
The close proximity between players and fans, along with constant support during matches, creates a unique environment that often elevates the level of play.
“Campinas has always been known for full stands and a very engaged crowd. For Brazilian players, this is an important advantage and often raises the level of the matches,” said tournament director Danilo Marcelino.
Strong Brazilian Line-Up
The 2026 edition features a deep field of Brazilian players, highlighting the country’s positive momentum on the Challenger circuit. In addition to Heide, Pucinelli, and Joao Lucas Reis, confirmed names in the main draw include Thiago Monteiro, champion in 2023, Thiago Seyboth Wild, Pedro Boscardin, and Igor Marcondes, along with several promising young players competing in the qualifying rounds.
The tournament also boasts a balanced international field, with notable South American talents such as Paraguay’s Adolfo Daniel Vallejo, Chile’s Tomas Barrios Vera, and Bolivia’s Juan Carlos Prado Angelo, representing the next generation of the region’s tennis scene.
