NAPLES/STARNBERG, March 27, 2026
Italian talent Federico Bondioli delivered a standout performance at the Guerri Napoli Tennis Cup, the ATP Challenger 125 event organized by Master Group Sport in collaboration with the Tennis Club Napoli. The 20-year-old from Ravenna defeated fellow Italian Michele Ribecai in straight sets in one hour and 23 minutes, in an impressive and unexpected clash between two qualifiers.
Bondioli, one of the most closely followed prospects by the Italian Tennis Federation, reached the semifinals – marking the best result of his young career. It was his fifth consecutive win at the tournament, having come through two qualifying matches and three main draw victories. Thanks to this run, the left-hander is set to climb around 120 positions in the ATP Rankings, moving from No. 437 to approximately No. 317, with the opportunity to rise even further. A continued winning streak in Naples could see him break into the Top 300 and establish himself among the world’s top 20 players under 20.
In the semifinals, Bondioli will face top seed Daniel Altmaier in one of the most anticipated matches of the penultimate day. Altmaier, ranked No. 55 in the world and a regular representative of Germany in Davis Cup competition, advanced comfortably by defeating Italy’s Enrico Dalla Valle 6–1, 6–3 in just one hour and 11 minutes, confirming his status as the tournament favorite.

Meanwhile, another Italian prospect, Federico Cina, saw his run come to an end despite a strong effort. The 18-year-old, ranked world No. 203, fell in three sets to Ukraine’s Vitaliy Sachko, who prevailed 6–2, 4–6, 6–1 after two hours and 2 minutes. Sachko now moves on to the semifinals, where he will face Serbia’s Hamad Medjedovic.
The world No. 115 and fifth seed in Naples delivered a dominant performance to defeat France’s Alexandre Muller 6–2, 6–2 in a clash between two of the tournament’s top contenders. The Serbian rising star, long considered a protégé of Novak Djokovic, continues to impress on the international stage. In August last year, Medjedovic came close to breaking into the Top 50, reaching a career-high ranking of No. 57.
