Great Britain Defeats Australia, Secures Billie Jean King Cup Finals Spot

MELBOURNE/STARNBERG, April 11, 2026

Great Britain defeated Australia 3-1 in the Billie Jean King Cup by Gainbridge Qualifier at John Cain Arena in Melbourne.

Harriet Dart and Jodie Burrage opened the Saturday’s play with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Storm Hunter and Ellen Perez to secure the tie for Great Britain.

Emerson Jones then claimed victory in her Australian debut at the Billie Jean King Cup, defeating Katie Swan 7-5, 6-3.

As winner of the tie, Great Britain secured their place in the 2026 Finals, scheduled for September in China.

Australia’s next tie will be during the Billie Jean King Cup Play-offs in November, where they will compete for a chance to return to the Qualifiers in 2027.
