MUNICH, April 12, 2026
The main draw of the BMW Open by Bitpanda is now complete, with four qualifiers securing their spots in the ATP 500 tournament in Munich on Sunday.
Among them is Diego Dedura, who returned to Center Court with fond memories after claiming his first-ever main draw win at tour level here last year, when he benefited from the retirement of Denis Shapovalov.
The 18-year-old Berlin native also made a statement in his match today, as he rallied past Sumit Nagal of India 6-7(8), 6-3, 6-3. Dedura won 83 per cent of his first-service points and broke his rival five times to seal victory in two hours and 34 minutes.

Dedura now faces a real blockbuster in the first round of the main draw, where he will take on World No. 16 and Munich’s fourth seed, Flavio Cobolli of Italy.
Earlier on Center Court, Vitaliy Sachko from Ukraine beat local wild card entry Max Hans Rehberg 6-2, 7-6(3) in one hour and 55 minutes and awaits Canada’s Gabriel Diallo in the main draw.
Elsewhere, Alex Molcan defeated Emilio Nava from the United States 6-1, 7-6(4) in one hour and 16 minutes, while Marc-Andrea Huesler of Switzerland cruised past German wild card Marko Topo 6-0, 6-1 in just 54 minutes.
Molcan will next play No. 3 seed Alexander Bublik of Kazakhstan, and Huesler faces two-time Munich finalist Botic van de Zandschulp from the Netherlands.
As Hubert Hurkacz was forced to withdraw from the BMW Open by Bitpanda due to illness, Emilio Nava also gained a spot in the main draw. As a lucky loser, he will challenge his compatriot and No. 2 seed Ben Shelton, who finished runner-up to Alexander Zverev in last year’s final.
Main draw gets underway on Monday
Main-draw action will kick off on Monday at the venue of the MTTC Iphitos with seventh-seeded Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech taking on US-American Alex Michelsen.
2024 BMW Open by Bitpanda champion Jan-Lennard Struff will also be in action, as the 35-year-old German opposes fifth favourite Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina.
“It’s always a good feeling to return to a tournament where things have gone so well for you,” he said during the opening press conference. Struff appreciates the family-like atmosphere and the close connection with the fans in Munich.
The all-American derby between Nava and Shelton is scheduled as the third match on Center Court.
