Roberto Bautista Agut has announced his retirement from professional tennis at the end of the 2026 season, bringing the curtain down on a career defined by consistency, resilience, and quiet excellence at the highest level of the sport.

The 38-year-old Spaniard, who reached a career-high ranking of World No. 9 in November 2019, established himself as one of the most reliable performers on the ATP Tour over more than a decade. Known for his relentless baseline game and mental toughness, Bautista Agut was a fixture in the latter stages of tournaments and a difficult opponent for even the very best players in the world.

Among the highlights of his career was his run to the semifinals at the 2019 Wimbledon Championships, where he produced some of the finest tennis of his life on grass – a surface not traditionally associated with Spanish players. That same year marked the peak of his career, as he also was part of the Spanish team, which triumphed at the Davis Cup Finals in Madrid.

Bautista Agut has contested 23 ATP Tour finals, lifting 12 trophies along the way. His biggest triumph came at the ATP 500 event in Dubai, while he also reached the final of the prestigious Shanghai Masters in 2016, one of the standout moments of his career at Masters 1000 level.
