BAD WALTERSDORF/STARNBERG, April 23, 2026
After three highly acclaimed editions in 2023, 2024, and 2025, the ATP 125 Challenger in Bad Waltersdorf – Austria’s third-largest men’s tennis tournament – will not take place in 2026. The event, held in the scenic thermal and volcanic region of southeastern Styria, had earned a reputation for organization and was widely praised by the international tennis community.
Tournament director and organizer Sascha Freitag ultimately made the difficult decision following extensive negotiations. “Due to significantly increased requirements from the ATP and ongoing global economic challenges, we have had to cancel the tournament for 2026 with a heavy heart,” Freitag explained.
Despite the setback, efforts are already underway to bring the event back. Organizers are actively working on plans to revive the ATP Challenger tournament in 2027, aiming to build on the strong foundation established over its first three editions.
