The sixth edition of the Parma Ladies Open presented by Iren is set to get underway, with the WTA 125 tournament taking place from May 11 to 16, 2026. Organized by MEF Tennis Events and Tennis Club Parma, the event will once again welcome several of the world’s top players to Emilia-Romagna as they continue their preparations for Roland Garros.

As the courts at Tennis Club Parma begin to come alive with the first practice sessions, players are settling into the atmosphere of one of Italy’s most established WTA 125 tournaments. Among the early arrivals was Colombia’s Camila Osorio, while Austrian teenager Lilli Tagger enjoyed a different sporting experience by attending the Women’s Six Nations rugby match between Italy and England at Stadio Lanfranchi.

Osorio returns to Parma with confidence and strong memories of clay-court success throughout her career. The 24-year-old Colombian, a three-time WTA 250 champion in Bogota and former World No. 33, has long been considered one of the strongest clay-court players from South America.

After practicing with Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva, Osorio spoke positively about returning to Parma.

“I always feel very comfortable here and I hope it can be a great week,” she said. “The club is welcoming and relaxing, and it has everything we need. Clay has always been my favorite surface, although this year I achieved better results on hard courts because I’ve been playing a more aggressive style than in the past.”

Following her participation at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome, Osorio is eager to continue improving her game ahead of the French Open.

“Like every professional player, I never want to stop growing,” she explained. “I’m focused on putting into practice the work I’m doing with my team and trying to stay as consistent as possible both in practice and in matches.”

Meanwhile, 18-year-old Austrian prospect Lilli Tagger took part in a special cross-sport experience that highlighted Parma’s growing reputation as an international sporting destination. Accompanied by Italian rugby legend Sara Barattin — the most capped player in the history of the Italian women’s national team with 116 appearances — Tagger attended the Women’s Six Nations clash between Italy and England.

The young tennis player also had the opportunity to meet Italian rugby internationals Elisa Giordano and Aura Muzzo before participating in the traditional post-match gathering hosted by Prosciutto di Parma at the stadium clubhouse.

“My first experience with rugby was fantastic,” Tagger said. “I had never watched a live match before, and I was really impressed by the level of both teams. It was also great to meet other female athletes like me. Talking with people from a different sport is always a valuable experience.”
