VALENCIA, May 15, 2026
Adolfo Daniel Vallejo headlined Friday’s quarterfinals action at the Copa Faulconbridge. On a cooler day in Valencia, with occasional rain replacing the sunshine of previous days, the 22-year-old from Paraguay knocked out No. 3 seed Zizou Bergs of Belgium , 6-4, 6-3.
In the pair’s first meeting, Vallejo withstood seven aces and broke his rival’s serve four times to seal victory in one hour and 22 minutes.
“It was really hard at the beginning. It got my surprise how hard and flat he was hitting the ball, especially in these slow conditions. After he was up 4-2 in the first set, I raised my level and started to play more my game instead of his. That’s when the match changed,” Vallejo told Tennis TourTalk afterwards and added: “I ended playing a really good match and I am happy with my level.”
Vallejo, currently ranked on a career-high of world No. 84 has already captured two titles on the ATP Challenger Tour this season and is eager to continue his good run of form in Valencia. “I am really happy to be in the semis here but I am not able to compete in the qualifying of the ATP 500 in Hamburg,” said Vallejo.
Up next for the South American will be Jaume Munar. The No. 2 seed of the ATP Challenger 175 event received a walkover from Pablo Carreno Busta, who was forced to withdraw from the all-Spanish clash.

“Good afternoon. I have some bad news: I’m not going to be able to play the match,” Carreno Busta told the crown on Center Court. “I tried this afternoon, I tried to warm up, but I have pain in my arm that doesn’t let me hit the ball. I was with the doctors trying again and again, and even ten minutes ago I still have a lot of pain. Being here in Spain and especially in Valencia makes it even worse, but I’m really sorry. I’m not going to be able to play the match. It hurts me a lot. I’ll try to recover as soon as possible for Roland Garros. I hope you can enjoy Jaume’s training session. I wish you all continue to enjoy it.”
In the remaining singles matches, top seed Alejandro Tabilo of Chile produced an impressive comeback against Serbian veteran Dusan Lajovic, recovering to win 4-6, 7-5, 6-4. The world No. 35 won 73 per cent his first-service points and won 52 per cent of the total points played to prevail after two hours and 25 minutes.
Tabilo will next face No. 7 seed Miomir Kecmanovic of Serbia, who delivered one of the standout performances of the tournament, overpowering fourth-seeded Argentine Camilo Ugo Carabelli with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 victory in 74 minutes.
