AMSTETTEN/STARNBERG, Mary 28, 2026
The Ladies Open Amstetten powered by SPORTLAND Niederösterreich will take another major step forward in 2026, as the international women’s tennis tournament has officially been upgraded to an ITF World Tennis Tour W100 event.
The tournament’s total prize money will increase from $60,000 to $100,000, while players will also compete for significantly more WTA Ranking points. The champion will now receive 100 ranking points instead of the previous 75.
In addition to the sporting upgrade, organizers are also expanding the event’s television coverage and continuing to improve the infrastructure at the UTC Amstetten Tennis Center in Austria.
“The biggest difference compared to last year is, of course, the upgrade from an ITF W75 to an ITF W100 tournament,” said tournament organizer Thomas Dappers. “This means both the prize money and the world ranking points increase considerably. The winner will receive 100 points this year instead of 75.”
According to Dappers, the decision was made with Austrian players firmly in mind.
“We have taken this step because we want to provide Austrian players such as Lilli Tagger, Sinja Kraus and Julia Grabher with the best possible conditions. The higher the tournament category, the greater the chance that these players will compete in Amstetten.”
The tournament is also set to receive a major boost in national exposure. After last year’s final was broadcast live on ORF 1, Austrian public broadcaster ORF will significantly expand its coverage in 2026.
“We are especially pleased that ORF will broadcast the Ladies Open Amstetten live on six days this year — from Tuesday to Sunday starting at 12 noon,” Dappers explained. “We are naturally very excited about this. It gives tennis fans the opportunity to enjoy top-level international tennis from Amstetten live from their homes as well.”
