BIRMINGHAM/STARNBERG, June 7, 2026
The Lexus Birmingham Open concluded with a memorable final day as China’s Bu Yunchaokete claimed the singles title and Britain celebrated success in the doubles competition.
Bu capped an impressive week by defeating defending champion Otto Virtanen of Finland 2-6, 7-6(3), 6-3 in a hard-fought championship match. After dropping the opening set, the 24-year-old from China showed remarkable resilience, edging a crucial second-set tie-break before taking control in the decider. Bu withstood 20 aces and secured victory in two hours and nine minutes.

Earlier in the day, Bu had also completed his rain-interrupted semi-final against Britain’s Arthur Fery. After play resumed following Saturday’s suspension, Fery claimed the second set to level the match, but Bu regained momentum to seal a 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 victory and book his place in the final.
The world No. 166 captured his fourth ATP Challenger career title, his first since Granby 2024 and his first on grass. Bu earned € 30,460 in prize money as well as 125 ATP Ranking points.
There was home success in the doubles draw as British pair Ben Jones and Joshua Paris lifted the trophy on Saturday. The duo defeated India’s Anirudh Chandrasekar and Japan’s Takeru Yuzuki 6-4, 7-6(4) in the final, completing a successful week on home soil. The encounter lasted one hour and 25 minutes.
