Brazilian Carolina Meligeni Alves, currently ranked world No. 317, captured the ITF World Tennis Tour W35 Cuiaba title on Sunday, defeating Chile’s Antonia Vergara Rivera in a hard-fought final.

The second seed overcame the fourth-seeded world No. 387, 7-6, 4-6, 6-4 after three hours and 18 minutes of play at the Clube Monte Libano. The match was closely contested from start to finish, featuring long rallies and high physical intensity, but the Brazilian proved more consistent in the key moments to secure the trophy.

“I’m very happy with this week. After four challenging months, I started the tournament without much confidence and built it up match by match. Winning the title in such a tough final was very special. It was my first tournament in Brazil in a long time and I’m very happy with the result,” Meligeni Alves said.

With her victory in Cuiaba, the 30-year-old lifts her second W35 title of the season, having also won in March at the W35 Buenos Aires. The triumph marks the tenth professional title of her career.
