CORDENONS/STARNBERG, June 25, 2026
One of the most anticipated sporting events of the Italian summer is set to return in a new and important slot on the calendar. The Serena Wines 1881–Acqua Maniva Tennis Cup Internazionali del Friuli Venezia Giulia will take place from 12 to 25 July on the clay courts of Eurosporting Cordenons, once again bringing top-level international tennis to the Friuli Venezia Giulia region.
The event will be officially presented during a press conference on 7 July at the Dream Fitness Wellness Centre in Cordenons, where organisers will reveal all the details of this year’s edition.
The action begins from 12 to 19 July with the 23rd edition of the ATP Challenger 75 tournament, which offers a prize fund of $106,000. Over the years, the tournament has earned a reputation as a launching pad for future stars, giving fans the opportunity to watch tomorrow’s champions before they break through on the ATP Tour.
One of the most notable examples is Carlos Alcaraz, who reached the final in Cordenons in 2020 shortly before beginning his meteoric rise to the top of the men’s game. Today, the Spaniard stands among the dominant figures of world tennis alongside Jannik Sinner.
Vasami Leads the Next Generation
This year’s tournament will once again showcase one of the sport’s brightest young prospects. Italian teenager Jacopo Vasami has already secured a place in the main draw through the ATP’s Junior Accelerator Programme.
The 19-year-old from Avezzano enjoyed a breakthrough 2025 season, highlighted by his victory at the prestigious Trofeo Bonfiglio, one of the world’s leading junior tournaments. He also reached the quarter-finals of the Roland Garros junior event and recently advanced to the final of the ATP Challenger 75 in Vicenza.
A left-hander with a powerful and modern game, Vasami is considered one of the most promising talents in world tennis. His aggressive serve and forehand, combined with the natural variation provided by his left-handed play, make him a dangerous opponent on any surface. Tennis experts have also praised his maturity and adaptability, qualities that have accelerated his development in recent years.
The Italian’s growing profile extends beyond the court, with major sponsorship backing and increasing attention from the tennis world as he continues his climb through the professional ranks.
Alongside Vasami, the tournament is expected to feature a strong contingent of Italian players, including both emerging talents and established professionals from the ATP Challenger circuit.
W75 Event Returns for 11th Edition
The second week of the event will be dedicated to women’s tennis, with the ITF W75 Cordenons taking place from 19 to 25 July. The tournament offers a prize fund of $60,000 and has become one of the most important stops on the ITF Women’s World Tennis Tour.
Many of the most promising young players on the WTA pathway are expected to compete, including a number of Italian players who have already impressed during the clay-court season.
Last year’s edition featured Austrian talent Lilli Tagger, coached by former Grand Slam champion Francesca Schiavone. Although Tagger suffered an early exit in Cordenons, she has since fulfilled much of her potential, reaching a career-high ranking of world No. 83 in June 2026.
With two weeks of international competition, rising stars, established names and a proven record of showcasing future champions, Eurosporting Cordenons is once again preparing for a memorable summer of tennis. Further announcements regarding the player fields are expected in the coming weeks as anticipation continues to build ahead of both events.
