Day 7 at Wimbledon delivered record-breaking achievements, major upsets and late-night drama as the quarterfinal line-ups continued to take shape.

Defending champion Jannik Sinner was pushed by Shintaro Mochizuki but came through in straight sets to secure his place in the quarterfinals.

The biggest surprise of the day came in the women’s draw, where Naomi Osaka produced a commanding performance to defeat world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka. Seventh seed Coco Gauff also advanced after recovering from a set down to overcome Belinda Bencic, sealing victory just two minutes before the 23:00 BST curfew.

In the men’s draw, Novak Djokovic defeated Roman Safiullin in four sets to break Roger Federer’s Wimbledon record for the most singles wins by any man at The Championships. The 39-year-old Serbian gained his 106th match win. Felix Auger-Aliassime also progressed to the quarterfinals, while Hubert Hurkacz was forced to retire with an injury in the fifth set of his match against Jan-Lennard Struff, sending the German through.

Elsewhere, Jessica Pegula defeated Iva Jovic to continue her campaign, while 2024 champion Barbora Krejcikova was eliminated by Karolina Muchova, adding another notable result to an eventful seventh day at the All England Club.
