The race for the title at the BRAWO OPEN 2026 is entering its decisive stages. Under bright summer sunshine, four singles quarterfinals and one doubles semi-final were played on Friday at the ATP Challenger 125 event on the picturesque grounds of the BTHC in Braunschweig.

Jan Choinski became the first player to reach the semi-finals with a convincing 6-4, 6-1 victory over 18-year-old German prospect Diego Dedura. After a closely contested opening set, the British-German raised his level, dictating play with powerful and precise groundstrokes to seal the win. “I played great tennis today. The level of the players here is incredibly close. Braunschweig is one of the most beautiful and unique Challenger tournaments. I reached the quarter-finals here two years ago, and I’m very happy to be in the semi-finals this time,” Choinski said in his on-court interview.

Over on the Clamex Court, Daniel Rincon battled past Laslo Djere in a gruelling three-hour encounter. The Spaniard recovered from losing the opening-set tie-break to defeat the Serbian 6-7, 6-4, 6-3, booking his place in the final four thanks to his resilience and endurance.

One of the standout stories of this year’s tournament, 18-year-old German wildcard Niels McDonald, saw his impressive run come to an end against Facundo Diaz Acosta. The Argentine, who had already eliminated Rudolf Molleker and Vilius Gaubas earlier in the week, proved too strong, winning 6-3, 6-2 with a composed performance. “I felt very good today, even though it was a very intense match,” said Diaz Acosta, who has already claimed four Challenger titles this season and is now chasing a fifth.

The final semi-final berth went to eighth seed Hugo Gaston, who defeated Germany’s Marvin Moeller 6-2, 6-4. The Frenchman once again showcased his trademark variety, mixing creative shot-making with experience and composure to overcome Moeller and complete the semi-final line-up.
