Tamara Korpatsch enjoyed the most emotional victory of her career on Sunday, lifting the trophy at the MSC Hamburg Ladies Open in her hometown. The 31-year-old defeated Hungary’s Anna Bondar 6-3, 6-3 in 87 minutes to claim her second WTA Tour title and complete a dream week in front of 5,000 spectators on Centre Court at the Rothenbaum Tennis Stadium.
Representing Hamburg’s Club an der Alster in the German Bundesliga, Korpatsch delivered a composed and consistent performance to secure her first WTA title since triumphing in Cluj in 2023. The victory also made her the first German woman to win the Hamburg tournament since Steffi Graf lifted the trophy on the Rothenbaum clay in 1992.
“I didn’t know that,” Korpatsch said after learning of the milestone. “That’s really wonderful news. I feel very honored.”
The title capped a demanding week for the home favorite. She needed three-set victories in each of her opening three matches before advancing to the final after Mayar Sherif retired injured in the semifinals. In the championship match, however, Korpatsch was in complete control, earning a deserved straight-sets victory.
Bondar, meanwhile, was appearing in her third consecutive Hamburg final. After finishing runner-up to Lois Boisson in 2025, the Hungarian again fell just short of the title but praised her opponent during the trophy ceremony.

“Congratulations, Tamara. You were simply the better player today,” Bondar said. “The fans weren’t cheering for me today, but that’s completely understandable. The atmosphere was wonderful again. This is such a special tournament for me, and I’ll definitely be back next year.”
Korpatsch thanked the home crowd for its unwavering support after celebrating her victory.
“Thank you for your support. Without you, I would never have made it,” she said.
The title lifts Korpatsch to a career-high World No. 46, marking her first appearance inside the Top 50. Bondar also climbs the rankings to World No. 77.
Earlier in the day, Slovenia’s Dalila Jakupovic and Nika Radisic captured the doubles title with a remarkable comeback victory. The pair rallied from a set down to defeat top seeds Magali Kempen and Alexandra Panova 5-7, 6-3, 10-5, finishing the match by winning the final five points of the match tie-break to seal the championship.
