SAN MARINO/STARNBERG, August 1, 2026

The championship match at the Internazionali di Tennis San Marino Open is set, with top seed Facundo Diaz Acosta of Argentina taking on Croatian qualifier Mili Poljicak in Sunday’s ATP Challenger 125 final. The title match is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. local time at the Centro Cassa di Risparmio di Fonte dell’Ovo.

Poljicak booked his place in the final by defeating fellow qualifier Juan Pablo Varillas of Peru 7-5, 6-4 in two hours and one minute.

Varillas, a former World No. 60, made the stronger start, breaking serve in the opening game and maintaining his advantage until serving for the set at 5-4. However, the Peruvian was unable to convert two set points before Poljicak completed a remarkable turnaround, capitalizing on a series of unforced errors to claim the opening set.

The second set followed a similar pattern. Varillas earned another early break, but the physical demands of an outstanding week appeared to take their toll. Poljicak fought back to level at 3-3 before using a mixture of powerful groundstrokes and deft backhand drop shots to take control. The 22-year-old Croatian broke once more at 5-4 to seal victory and advance to the fourth Challenger final of his career. Poljicak captured his maiden ATP Challenger title earlier this season on home soil in Split.

Awaiting him in the final is World No. 107 Facundo Diaz Acosta, who produced another commanding display to defeat third seed Vilius Gaubas of Lithuania 6-2, 6-3 in one hour and 53 minutes.

The Argentine made a flying start, racing to a 3-0 lead with two early breaks before comfortably taking the opening set. Gaubas attempted to raise his level in the second, but Diaz Acosta remained firmly in control, breaking for a 3-2 lead and never looking back. The left-hander served efficiently, dictated play from the baseline and punished Gaubas’ errors to secure his place in the final.

Already a four-time ATP Challenger champion this season, Diaz Acosta is guaranteed to return to the Top 100 following his run in San Marino. The Argentine currently sits at No. 95 in the live rankings and would climb to No. 83 with the title.
